University Union, in conjunction with University Lectures, has announced that Hasan Minhaj will be Syracuse University’s guest speaker this semester. Minhaj is a critically acclaimed comedian, actor, and writer who has enjoyed a successful career in many mediums of entertainment. 


Best known for his role on the award-winning talk series The Daily Show, Minhaj receives high praise for his direct and thoughtful comedic approach. His wit and humor featured in TDS were so strong that he was asked to host the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner this past April, where he delivered a 25-minute roast focusing on the political landscape of Washington D.C. His extensive TV credits include HBO’s Getting On and Netflix’s Arrested Development. His self-titled web series,The Truth with Hasan Minhaj, has received countless positive reviews from outlets such as Time, GQ, and The Huffington Post. The son of two Indian immigrants, Minhaj always provides a unique and intelligent perspective on the American experience, and will be sure to do so on campus next Friday. 


The event will take place Friday, October 27th in Goldstein Auditorium at 7:30 PM. Along with University Union and University Lectures, the event will be co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs with the AAPI Heritage Month Planning committee. Tickets are available at the Box Office in Schine Student Center: $5 for students, $10 for staff, faculty, and the general public. Audience members will have the chance to participate in a brief Q&A at the end of the show.
