Amber Rose’s Third Annual SlutWalk

Last weekend, Amber Rose held her third annual SlutWalk. The Amber Rose SlutWalk is described as a “non-profit event that is playing a monumental role in the movement towards gender equality, ending rape culture, victim blaming, slut and body shaming and other social injustice issues,” while also providing a “safe, all-inclusive space to entertain, educate, and empower.” At this years zero-tolerance event, hundreds of people gathered on the streets of Los Angeles to join Amber Rose, 21 Savage, and many others. While Rose came dressed as “Captain Save a Hoe,” 21 stood beside her holding a sign that read “I’m A Hoe Too.” See pictures of the couple below.

Dove Advertisement

Recently, Dove posted an advertisement to their Facebook page that portrayed a woman of color becoming white after using Dove soap. For obvious reasons, the hygiene company instantly received a tremendous amount of backlash after the ad surfaced on social media. Over the years, Dove has consistently aligned itself with empowerment and body positivity through their “real beauty” campaigns, and their most recent advertisement was nothing but a sad attempt to enhance their branding. Dove went on to release a statement on Twitter that read, “An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused.” See the advertisement and tweet below.

Bob’s Burgers Movie To Come

“Bob’s Burgers” fans are in for a treat in the coming years. According to Pitchfork, a “Bob’s Burgers” movie is expected to launch on July 17, 2020. The animated series focuses in on the Belcher family—Bob Belcher, owner of a hamburger restaurant, along with his “ever-optimistic” wife Linda and their three persona-rich children. Along with its’ eighth season premiering on October 1st, the show has been repeatedly nominated for best animated series at the Emmy’s, winning in 2014 and 2017. Loren Bouchard, the creator of the series, explained why the movie will take time to produce: “We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show… We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever-so-slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s—but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!” The show has a history of playing with different formats, including their “Bob’s Burgers Live” tour and “The Bob’s Burgers Music Album,” which features 112 songs from show’s voice actors.

A$AP Nast x Converse

Over the past few months, Converse has been releasing collaborations with a number of notable icons and brands, including Tyler, The Creator and the NBA. Just recently, A$AP Nast posted a picture to his Instagram sporting his upcoming collab with the well-known sneaker brand, and it appears as though the collection will reflect Nast’s interest with “mid-century” modern furniture. The One Star sneaker is a deep yellow corduroy material—something unique that Converse has never experimented with before—with a dark red leather star along the mid-foot of the sneaker. Additionally, Nast’s collection features a plaid Chuck Taylor All Star 70 with various lace options. The collection dropped exclusively at the Times Square Foot Locker on September 28th, making it difficult for fans to get their hands on the vintage-inspired sneakers.
